Council Grove Area Foundation Celebrates Successful Match Month Event
— The Council Grove Area Foundation (CGAF) is excited to announce the overwhelming success of its Match Month Event held in November, where a remarkable $180,682.82 was generously donated. Leveraging its $70,000 grant from the Patterson Family Foundation, CGAF maximized the impact of these donations, bringing the grand total to an impressive $250,707.82.
Thirteen deserving organizations and community projects were recipients of the match dollars, furthering their missions and initiatives. The beneficiaries included Morris County Hospital Foundation for a 3D Mammography Machine, Council Grove Pickleball & Tennis Court Renovation Fund, Neosho Riverwalk Improvement Fund, White Memorial Camp, Council Grove Public Library, Together with Veterans of Morris County, Greater Morris County Development Corporation, Morris County Fairground Improvement Fund, Alta Vista CORE Community, Historic Preservation Corporation, Little Huskies Childcare, Morris County Historical Society, and Building Blocks Childcare.
Amy Honer, Executive Director of CGAF, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We knew the Rural Community Foundation Match Program Grant from the Patterson Family Foundation was a game-changer. We worked diligently to identify potential organizations that would benefit. Once we finalized the list of participating organizations in mid-October, we calculated how to strategically match the dollars."
Honer explained the matching structure, ensured organizations a 50% match on the first $5,000 in donations, and that a minimum contribution of $1,000 was required to be eligible for a match. Beyond the initial cap, organizations competed for the remaining match pool dollars, creating an incentive for increased fundraising efforts.
On November 8, an in-person Match Day event was held at the Territory Ballroom, allowing community members to engage with the match organizations directly. This event marked the beginning of a historic month of philanthropy. Honer remarked, "Our community responded generously during the month, with donors contributing a total of $180,682.82 to support the initiatives of these organizations."
The Council Grove Area Foundation expresses gratitude to all donors, participants, and supporters who made this Match Month Event a resounding success. The impact of these contributions will undoubtedly create lasting positive change within the community.
