Bill Dickson Wildcat Scholarship
Honoring a lifetime of education, agriculture, and community service
The Bill Dickson Wildcat Scholarship honors William “Bill” Miller Dickson and his lifelong dedication to Kansas State University, agriculture, and the Council Grove community.
Bill grew up in the Miller community and graduated from Miller Rural High School. In 1956, he earned a degree in Animal Science from Kansas State University. He then served three years in the United States Air Force as a navigator aboard a KC-97 aerial refueling aircraft.
Following his military service, Bill joined the Kansas State University Extension Service. He served as County Agricultural Agent in Neosho and Morris Counties before spending the remainder of his career as an extension farm management specialist in Northeast Kansas.
In retirement, Bill devoted his time to community service. He was one of the founders of the Council Grove Area Foundation and the Council Grove Life Center. He also served on the boards of the Council Grove United Methodist Church, Morris County 4-H Foundation, and Morris County Hospital Foundation, and served 17 years as a trustee on the Morris County Hospital Board.
