Lloyd K Brown


The Lloyd K Brown Scholarship was established to provide educational opportunities annually to a Herington High School senior pursing a degree at a Kansas state funded educational institution. 


Mr. Brown was born on March 11, 1908  and was a lifetime resident of Herington Kansas. He was a retired engineer for the Rock Island Railroad and a member of the United Methodist Church, Kansas Lodge 307 AF&AM and the Chapter of Commandery, all of Herington, and the Isis Shrine Temple, Salina, the Eagles Lodge, Junction City, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Lloyd passed at the age of 82 on March 21,1990.

  • Refer to criteria below for eligibility and list of documents needed.

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Please type application, illegible applications will not be considered.

  • Scholarship will be awarded at the Herington Awards Ceremony.

  • The Scholarship recipient must provide evidence of enrollment before scholarship funds will be distributed.  Scholarships will be mailed directly to the recipient’s educational institution.


Award Criteria

  • Applicant must be enrolled at Herington High School, USD 487. 

  • Applicant must be attending a Kansas state funded educational institution.

  • Applicant must include the attached teacher recommendation form. 

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen,  a permanent resident with a permanent resident ID card, or current passport.

  • Applicant must include a copy of an official HHS USD 487 transcript including cumulative GPA.

  • Applicant must include a copy of guardian’s tax return.
